Allergy - Prick Test

  • Comprehensive allergy management system is available in the clinic.

  • Diagnostic skin prick test (S.P.T.) for aero-allergen allergies for the 8 common aero-allergens are routinely done.

  • Modified RAST test (blood sample taken and IgE specific antibodies to the various allergens are measured).

  • Both tests are accurate when carefully chosen.

  • Which test to use depends on clinical situation, i.e. patients skin condition and whether anti-histamines are used.

  • Blood tests for food allergies and sensitivities also available.


Skin Prick Test (SPT)

Results of Skin Prick Test (SPT) in 20 minutes

  • SPT procedure can be done in the clinic. It is a painless procedure that takes 5 minutes.

  • Results are available within 20 minutes.

  • Positive skin tests are indicated by a significant weal and flare reaction larger than the positive control.

  • Report will be interpreted by Dr Stanley.


Blood Test (Modified RSAT)

  • A Modified Radioallergosorbent Test (RAST) by taking blood is an alternative to skin tests if the patients skin is too reactive/senstive or patients are on antihistamines. The results take 2-3 weeks to be known.
